Wooden pen blanks are high-quality wood blanks, ideal for making ballpoint pens, fountain pens, rings, pipe tampers, and various other woodturning projects. They are characterized by their natural grain patterns, warm feel, and unique appearance. Depending on the wood species, they offer different levels of hardness, colors, and textures, giving each finished piece its own distinctive character.
Wooden pen blanks are durable, easy to work with, and can be enhanced with various surface finishes.
Grain and Appearance
Tamarind wood stands out for its exceptional, high-contrast coloring and fascinating, almost artistic grain pattern. Its light base color ranges from creamy white and ivory to soft beige and light brown tones.
Particularly characteristic are the striking dark brown to almost black lines and branching patterns that run irregularly through the wood. These are caused by natural fungal discoloration, known as "spalting," which gives the wood its distinctive appearance.
The fine, sometimes web-like structures resemble small rivers, branching trees, or abstract drawings. Delicate, flowing lines alternate with stronger, darker grain patterns, creating an impressive contrast against the light-colored wood.
